Description

The BC547 is the everyday NPN transistor in textbooks and hobby circuits. Use it as a switch to drive loads a GPIO pin can't power directly – an LED strip section, a buzzer or a small relay coil – or as a small-signal amplifier.

Features

  • NPN, 45 V collector-emitter, 100 mA collector current
  • High gain: hFE 110–800
  • 625 mW power dissipation
  • TO-92 package

Pinout

Flat face towards you, legs down: Collector – Base – Emitter (left to right).

Using it as a switch

Emitter to GND, load between + supply and collector, and a 1 kΩ resistor from the microcontroller pin to the base. Add a 1N4007 diode across relay or motor coils. For loads above about 100 mA, use a MOSFET instead.

Package includes

10 × BC547 transistors
