Description
The HC-SR501 senses the body heat of a moving person and switches its output HIGH. It works on its own (drive a relay module directly) or with any microcontroller as a simple digital input.
Features
- Detection range adjustable, up to about 7 m, 110° cone
- Output ON time adjustable from about 3 s to 5 min
- Jumper for single trigger (L) or repeat trigger (H)
- Supply 4.5–20 V; digital output 3.3 V HIGH – safe for ESP32 and Raspberry Pi
- Very low standby current
Good to know
After power-up the sensor needs about 30–60 seconds to settle, and may trigger once or twice during that time. Keep it away from heaters, air-conditioner vents and direct sunlight.
