Description
An IR LED shines forward and a photodiode watches for the reflection. When something comes close, the on-board LM393 comparator pulls the output LOW and lights an indicator LED – no calculations needed in your code.

Good to know
Dark or black surfaces reflect less infrared, so the range is shorter on them. Strong sunlight can cause false triggers – it works best indoors.
